On Peace
“The way to peace is to be content with yourself, honor the light of reason within, live in harmony with others, and be grateful to the gods for the universe and your role in it.” ― Marcus Aurelius, The Meditations
There is no way to peace. Peace is the way.
(again, it’s an act/verb/within, not a thing/noun/externality… be, embody, create it)
Thict Nhat Hahn said it well: If we want peace, we must be peace. Peace is a practice note a hope.
^ this is dojo mindset, get on the mat, make beautiful decisions
There is no way around it(?). Peace starts on your plate.
Externalizations.
Pay someone you never met to do something you’d never do. Money.
(And people talk about the side of the oppressor quote)
As long as Man continues to be the ruthless destroyer of lower living beings, he will never know health or peace. For as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seed of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love.
Pythagoras
Until we have the courage to recognize cruelty for what it is — whether its victim is human or animal — we cannot expect things to be much better in this world. We cannot have peace among men whose hearts delight in killing any living creature. By every act that glorifies or even tolerates such moronic delight in killing, we set back the progress of humanity.
Rachel Carson
